Analysts across all news sources, research publications and consumer studies, know that within the next few years, billions of devices will be interconnected in a complex system of technology and innovation to help us improve daily tasks from remembering to drink water to flying us across the ocean. What they cannot agree on is how many devices, simply because consumer consumption of technology is surpassing all predictions.
It is not surprising that the rise in the number of Internet enabled devices comes at a time when millennial’s are the driving power behind the world workforce with technology adaptation practically starting at birth.

While it is not always easy to meet all demands, the modern shift enterprises are undergoing that connects them even more to startups will surely be the driving force in the onset of new technology that is affordable and scalable.
To offer new innovation and not spend years on R&D and in house development, many enterprises are seeking out startups in order to collaborate on new technology. Startups which live up to the expectations and continue to change the world with new technology that is game changing, innovative and disruptive (sometimes all at once) have always led the innovation train, but rarely got a chance to showcase it on an enterprise level. The reason for this was always due to the overwhelming amount of red tape and bureaucracy that startups previously had to endure in order to reach decision makers in enterprises to consider their solution.

As more people are born and require more resources, so will our technology need to meet the needs of the new generation. The future of smart cities is therefore in the ability of our devices to not only connect to one another but to intelligently guide us as humans living in a machine world.
As technology advances (and enterprises and startups fine tune their relationships) urban living will be smarter, safer and healthier. Will we be boarding a flying car Jetson style in the near future? Probably not. But can we expect a self-driving car that will prevent accidents and help save our environment by not using gas? Probably.
